AFSPA extended in Manipur, Nagaland & Arunachal Pradesh

Centre Extends AFSPA in Parts of Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh for Six Months

The Central Government has extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA), in specified areas of Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh for another six months from 1 October 2026. The extension follows a review of the law-and-order situation in the three northeastern states.

In Manipur, the disturbed-area declaration covers the state except areas under 13 police stations across five districts. In Nagaland, nine districts and specified areas under police stations in five other districts remain covered. In Arunachal Pradesh, the order covers Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts and specified areas of Namsai district.
